We’ve had a request from Andrea for bloggers to join in spreading the word: how could we refuse?
Over to Andrea:
Bloggers. Bookstores. what’s the connection?
If you’re reading this, you probably love books. You love reading them, you love talking about them, and many of us love buying them. I don’t know about you, but I’m on a first name basis with everyone at my favorite local bookstore, and their store cat greets me at the door. Other than giving them all my money, how can I help independently owned bookstores promote the genre fiction that has given me so much pleasure?
My friend Elizabeth (you may know her from Dark Cargo) was asking herself the same question.
After much brainstorming, we came up with Bookstore BookBlogger Connection. Some of you have already started participating, a few of you were in on the secret trials from the start. Bookstore Bookblogger Connection is for bloggers (like you!) and bookstores (those folks we give all our money to!) to have a meaningful connection. BookstoreBookblogger Connection harnesses the power of the online blogger community to provide bookstores with free, blogger written book blurbs. We collect ‘em, database ‘em, and give bookstores the hook up when they are looking to promote specific titles.
But for this to work, we gotta get a lot, and I mean a metric tons worth of bookblurbs. Otherwise we have nothing to offer the bookstores. This is where you come in. Head on over to the Connection, read the “I’m a bookblogger!” tab, and submit to your hearts content. For now we are only focusing on science fiction and fantasy.
Questions? Ideas? Tweet us at @BSBBConxn. Our first goal is to have at least two blurbs for at least one hundred titles. Get in on the ground floor of an exciting new project, and help us get there! Help get the word out about your favorite books, and help support family run bookstores.
Isn’t it time we made a connection with the bookstores that provide us with the objects of our affection?
