Biography
Sylvia Engdahl was born in Los Angeles but has lived most of her life in Oregon. She has worked as a teacher and as a computer programmer. Although she is best known for her young adult Newbery Honor Book "Enchantress from the Stars" (which is being republished in hardcover by Walker in 2001) and her other books were issued in the 1970s as young adult novels, the others are for older readers than "Enchantress from the Stars". Her trilogy was republished as adult science fiction, in omnibus form, by Meisha Merlin in 2000. The many people who searched for these books during the years when they were unavailable will be glad to know that they are back in print. Her Web site at www.sylviaengdahl.com contains detailed information about them.
