She feels much better today.
Even an appetite has arisen..and it will feel good to be out of this room
after14 days.
She can walk quite easily despite the black cord stiches zig zagging across
her abdomen.
There was no pus oozing from the wound yet...but that was O.K...it will come
and he will rescue her with two pink pills and a glass of water every three
hours. He was always so kind after the operations. It seemed to make all the
jagged pain, raging like fire in her womb, extinguish.
"He such a kind husband" she would think to herself."Bless his heart for
wanting to help some one like me."
Today will be a new day.He has been so kind and quiet.Sitting at the kitchen
table waiting.Waiting for her to emerge from the room a new person since the
surgery. No more bad parts causing trouble in their lives.
They were all taken out two weeks ago.
It was better this way.
Her ragged fingers pick the piles of clothes to find something suitable for
breakfast with him.Something that won't make him upset. Her hands are not what
they used to be and it hurts to bend the fingers. Some of her fingers cannot be
closed at all.And the room is so dark she cannot see very well from the one eye
that is not damaged.
She finds a floral dress under the mass of sour, dirty laudry and struggles
to put it on.She knows he will hate it.
She knows he will be upset that she chose such an ugly thing to wear for
breakfast. But she will listen and explain that it could not be avoided
,everything has been bloodied from her wound. She will make a promise to do the
laundry today. He could not be too upset then, will he?
"Remember",she tells herself,"to make the morning as cheerful as possible. He
has been through enough putting up with me these last couple of weeks.Remember
to speak of only good and wholesome things.Try to look happy and light. This
surgery was done for a purpose. Let him see the success in it."
She comes from the room and goes to the kitchen branding a smile before her
entrance.
"Good Morning"she sings"Let me make you some coffee ,dear."
He makes no effort to notice her.But that's O.K. Next Page Copyright © 1999, 2000, 2001 K. Adams, sffworld.com. All rights reserved.
