A Locked Up Heart
         by Aisho

My heart is innocent;
I have given it not.
Many a time I have been asked,
And many a time I have told,
'I will not give you my heart, so stop.'

I was stubborn
And refused all who asked,
Until the day came when
He came my way.

Riding upon a unicorn,
His brown eyes deep as wells,
He blew his carven horn.

'I come to see the princess,'
Says he,
And I answer, 'I am she.'

He dismounts in growing grandeur
A smile in his eyes.
'The wise one wishes you ere
The eagles fly tonight.'

I bowed my golden head,
And mounted behind him,
My arms circling his waist in stead.

We galloped through a valley,
Over a mountain,
And over the sea,
To the ivory tower,
Where the wise one
Wished to see me.

'Dear girl,'
Came the wise one down the stairs,
A pretty as any could be,
'Do you love he?'
I looked startled upon
His handsome face.

'I wish to know,'
Whispered he.
'I love thou,'
Whispered me.

We disappeared into the sunset,
Riding his pure white steed,
Even though many placed bets,
My heart was finally freed.
