To End in Peace (26 ratings) by Maedonis Andafarus
Page 2 of 2 The process has been repeating itself for a day now, and soon the energy
levels will reach critical, tearing the very universe apart with it. Then
it is time to leave, farewell my friend, perhaps we will meet each other again,
perhaps the Ancients were right after all about life following death...
Perhaps, Raereokk nodded slowly, goodbye Malaikasj, may your ship be swift
and you piloting true. With that Malaikasj turned and headed down the worn
path, back toward the city where the remainder of his race had gathered in wait
to board The Great Ship. ******* Hours Passed ******* Raereokk the
Seventh Seeker of Truth glanced at the chronometer, it had reached the 20th
hour. The Great Ship had lifted off, gracefully flying over the ancient and
worn landscape before gently rising into the air and disappearing in the glare
of the Singularity. There would be nowhere for the ship to run, eventually the
shock wave from the destruction of the Singularity would overcome them, it was
only a matte
r of time. Maybe days or weeks, maybe even months or years, but eventually
the wave would get the better of Sentiences last noble hope. And there it would
all end. But Raereokk felt no fear, no regret, only a deep sadness. Sadness
that it was ending, his time was over, and no one would be left to mourn the
loss. But perhaps from the ashes of this existence a new universe would be
created, with all new life and Sentience, or even he would be reborn, reliving
it again, in an endless cycle. But now his thoughts ceased as he saw the
Singularity begin to change, it shifted from white to a glowing red, and it
began to expand. The Singularity became a titanic fireball; an explosion
infinity greater than the most violent of supernovae. Raereokk did a quick
calculation in his head: the expansion was moving at many millions of times the
speed of light. The Great Ship had no hope of escape, it would be inundated in
the pure vacuum energy cascading from the Singularity along with what little
matter remained in the uni
verse. Raerokk The Seeker sat upon a small flat rock. He took a moment to
reflect on how smooth the rock was, how worn with age it was. He traced his
fingertips over its surface and closed his eyes. For the briefest of
instants he felt a searing heat, and through closed eyelids saw a blinding
light. Then darkness.
