He looked out of the new window in his office, he had hung around the plaza for more than two hours with nothing happening. Looking down to the plaza now he could see vehicles arrive dignitaries were congratulating the proffesser and his team. Seats were being set up for them, perhaps they will be trying another demonstation, he thought. The polititians, dignitaries, miltary commanders, and intersted parties took to their seats. He saw the proffesser and his technitians set their equipment up once again and begin the musical programme. He wasn't quite sure but he thought that this maybe a different tune. He waited for the music to end then looked once more at the ship. It responded right on cue, repeating the music played to it. The audience of the dignitaries applauded loudly. As the ship came to the end of the musical phrase something more impressive happened. He looked at the ship in stunned disbalief, one of the hull panels began to open, he grabbed his camera and again ran from his office into the street.

By the time he reached the city sqaure a craft had left the spaceship, it was small, white in colour, at the front was darkend windows and on one side he could see a hatchway. The craft made a slow descent and just few metres before it landed legs extended from its underside. A crowed had now gathered in the mid morning sun and they all gasped as the small craft hissed as it touched down. The crowd held its breath, he too held his breath, nothing happend. He waited with all the others gathered in the square, nothing happened. Just as it seemed nothing would happen the hatch on the side began to open. He began to click rapidly with his camera as the aliens began to disembark. His first thought was one of revulsion, these beings were hideous, he did not have the words to discribe them but five of them stood there in the sunshine. One of the beings moved forward, raised what could only be an arm and began to speak.

"Peace not afraid be come we". The whole crowed was amazed.

"Far travellers we distant come world." Some in the crowd began to smirk at their bad use of the language, but he could hear the news people nearby.

"They are obviously tryng to communicate using our language, perhaps this type of communication is foreign to them." He thought about that, maybe the reporter was right, their speach may be disjointed but it could be understood."

"Mean we harm explorers are no we". The alien then made his way the the seated dignitaries as one of the poloticians rose.

"Welcome to our world, we extend our hospitality to you." This caused a raptuous round of applause from the gathered crowd. He wasn't sure but he thought that the aliens liked what was said.

After the pleasentaries were over some of the aliens departed in the cars with the politicians two remained with the small craft. Newspaper reporters took the opportunity to get closer and photograph the aliens and their vehicle. The TV tried to interview them but the aliens were silent, either they had orders not to speak or they could not understand what was being said.
