Perplex Vision 2000 (Book Excerpt) by Michael Anka
Page 10 of 10 "Resuming where we left off..." Vaton continued, and Diane immediately
recognized the slight, nearly imperceptible, difference between Geoffrey's own
voice and Vaton's "borrowed" voice. "We, I mean Uvigadva and myself, will try
to present you with a visual kaleidoscope of images which, we think, will help
you and Geoffrey comprehend the overall truth you are seeking, Diane." Vaton's
tone of voice suddenly took on sad overtones revealing that, for some unknown
reason, it was very difficult for him to put into words what he was trying so
hard to say. He suddenly fell silent.
As Diane looked into his eyes, she thought she recognized pain and suffering
in those blue eyes, and she also noticed that they were not fired by Geoffrey's
inner being, but Vaton's. She wanted to say something, to come halfway for him,
but then she heard the familiar friendly voice coming from inside her.
"Relax, Diane. I clearly sense the turmoil you are going through right now.
Take a deep breath and try to relax. Your inquiring mind wants a million
questions asked and answered at the same time. You will not be able to
assimilate it all at once. Not yet, trust me." Uvigadva said trying to calm
Diane down.
"I guess you're right, Uvi. There's so much to learn. It drives me crazy
with impatience." replied Diane talking to Uvigadva with her thoughts.
"Some of the images you, Geoffrey and Peter will watch will be powerful and
disturbing, Diane," Vaton continued. "I want to warn you about it before we get
into it in a minute. As you will see, it will be as difficult for us, Uvigadva
and myself, as it will be for you and Geoffrey. We will try to project you
through a way I believe the human words "Hologram Imaging," best describe. It
will be a replay of images showing what actually happened. Peter saw some of
them earlier. I have already projected our ship's crash-landing on your planet
to him. It will also show you the plain truth about how we got in contact with
you two and why. One last thing. You will witness yourselves being killed by
those bad people we told you about earlier, when they sank your boat in the
marshes. Unless you want us to skip those images..."
Diane's face suddenly turned pale, but after swallowing a hard knot stuck
sideways in her dry throat, she reassured Vaton that she was ready for the
truth.
"Whatever it is, we have to know it."
"I understand you perfectly. I would demand the same thing, if I were you."
"Geoffrey, are you ready?" Vaton asked out loud.
"I'm ready. I've been waiting for this for a long time, Vaton. Ready
whenever you are, buddy." Geoffrey answered with the same voice, only a shade
different from the voice placing the question.
Once again, Diane clearly made the distinction between the two different
persons' tones of voice.
