The Egaji were engulfing Raleigh Point E, and swiftly moving over to the Blue Stripes in Raleigh Point D. "What the hell happened?" Before I could answer, a crackling sound came from the communicator.

"Commander... K-1 forces are being surrounded...Commander Troy, come in! What are your orders sir?! Commander? Come in!" Commander Troy grabbed his communicator.

"Delta, Zulu, Socrates...Come in! Forces surrounding you on the eastern front...Are you there??" Only static was heard now. The Commander looked at me. A face of fear no doubt under his helmet. "What in God’s name happened just now Lieutenant?"

"I’m not sure. I think we were in some sort of trance."

"God...All of us?" I looked down at the battlefield. Egaji tanks were overpowering ours. Alpha Drones were battling our blue-stripes. Delta Drones were in the air. We’re losing.

"No, just us. They knew the others had to wait for our charge order. They found a way to tip the scale." Commander Troy looked at me for a second.

"If they get that weapon..."

"I know Commander." We both walked over to a pit nearby. We stared down. "When should I give the retreat order to the rest of them?" The Commander reached down, his arms twice what mine was. He picked up the purity device.

"Once we reach the minute mark." He held it with one hand, and put it in a bag he carried behind him. "Pilot me to the Dead Zone, I’ll take it from there."

The battlefield was stained with blood. Red and Orange. The air smelled of scorched death. Humans firing upon the countless Egaji, when the ammo ran out, soldiers would fight hand to hand. Using their daggers, or the gun itself.

I could see a couple big explosions as we hovered down the hill to the Dead Zone. They came from where the blue-stripes were. These no doubt were our guys doing it. The Drillers most likely. I had once overheard their group leader preaching on how many of the bastards he would take down with him if he were outnumbered. I maneuvered the hovercraft, the Commander on the gunner behind me, firing every couple of seconds. Then BOOM! Right in front of us a real big explosion. A good number of the Alpha Drones were blown to bits by that one. No doubt it was the Captain himself who set it off. The Dead Zone was full of our sniper guys running to join the fight. Some stopping every couple of meters to get a shot. This battle was like no other battle before. The entire structure of chain in command broke down in one sudden swoop. The Commander and I jumped out of the Hover Craft at once and began running. Today, every man on this field would fight for Earth.

"Lieutenant..." The Commander yelled as he ran next to me. "Take cover near the J.T. coming up!" I looked, flames engulfed it, and about ten others were hiding behind it, shooting at the Egaji from their spot. I nodded. I ran to the left and took cover. I looked down at my communicator held it tightly in my hand as I reached the J.T.

"Listen up!" I yelled to them as they shot into the distance. "Prepare the other units for a retreat." One of the soldiers gave me a sharp look.

"Retreat!?" He yelled back to me. "Where the hell to?!"

"The Commander is going to nuke the center of their defenses. If you want to survive it, you’d all better go past the Dead Zone!" The soldier looked to his second in command.

"Prepare our Unit for retreat!" He shouted.
