Night
         by Erzsebet Bathory

As your emotions, your senses, slip away
You can feel your physical death coming.
It's not like a cut or a bruise,
Oh no, it's like thousands upon thousands
Of knives stabbing you all over-
Like eating razor blades,
Like a broken heart,
Yet you're still alive.
You writhe in agony
For hours on end.
Then, for a few minutes
You're completely still-
Almost like you're paralyzed.
You see the world moving around you
Though you can do nothing to interact.
Suddenly, your sense come to life!
You can see, feel, taste, smell, and hear
Everything so much better than before.
Then, you get a feeling, a hunger
That you've never experienced.
Blood. You know it's what you need.
As you try to walk outside,
The sun seems a thousand times
More powerful than usual-
It feels as if it's
Setting your skin on fire.
Then you know:
You're damned to the night.
