To Warm the Earth (Book Synopsis)

The rule of men led to atomic war. Nuclear winter ice wiped Earth clean of cities. Now for centuries the rule of women has labored to restore balance. But warriors and kings are on the rise again.

The priestesses in the snow-covered caves of Northern India worship all the world's goddesses as one. For them, the Earth and Snow Tiger are sacred. A girl, who longs to be a priestess, defends her family against a tiger, breaks a taboo, and becomes a vile outsider.

In the caves another outsider, Osen, the old African priestess, has extraordinary powers. She is the last telekinetic genetic engineer. She knows that male civilization survived in space.

She creates a son, Govind, up above on the space station. His mission: to heal the spacemen, and lead them back to warm and protect the Earth. All she needs is a bold, brave young woman to go into orbit to be his mentor.

She has her eye on Mana, the tiger-slayer. But will Govind be able to bring the Goddess religion of Earth to space, or will it get twisted into a God religion once more? Can Mana hold his genius in check? If she goes, will she ever see her beloved earth, or the woman she loves, again?

Like Children of Arable, which it follows as Book 2 of the Gendering series, To Warm The Earth is a fable of men and women, told in a richly imagined future. The two books are linked loosely, and can be read separately.
