Page 14 of 19 Will he suddenly be spirited away by White Eagle and be scalped and his head
shrunk? Or turned into a frog?
"I knew you would come to me Billy Steele," White Eagle continued. "I saw
you coming in a vision I had. For you possess the courage of heart and strength
of soul to do magnificent things. You do not heed the tainted words of others,
but rather you follow your heart and pursue your noble calling. For saving my
life was a test to see if you are truly the chosen one, my new student, I hold
your destiny, Billy Steele, just as you will someday hold the worlds destiny
in your hands," the Indian man of spiritual wisdom said with glowing
affirmation.
Billy seemed overwhelmed by White Eagles verbal gravity. "If you are
feeling better, I have to be going," Billy hurried. "My cavalry unit needs my
help"
"I know, young warrior," White Eagle said with great certainty in his voice.
"My magical visions have followed your lifes path since birth, Billy Steele.
You have a legacy to reclaim your loved ones have been lost to you forever and
you must find those responsible. I have suffered the same as you sixty years
ago. But for your courage under fire, you Billy Steele are next in line to
receive the ultimate power, for you have been the object of my long search for
a worthy successor to the magic I hold."
Billys pony and puppy intuitively knew something incredible was about to
happen when they witnessed White Eagle hand Billy a small token, the black
arrowhead, and it glowed with an awesome power.
"This black arrowhead, Billy Steele, contains over 100 centuries of sacred
Native American magic and power," White Eagle said while placing it in Billys
hand. "It was once given to me many, many moons ago by the Lord of Indian
nature during a time of my tribes greatest crisis. In my hands, this tiny
object transformed me into The Manitou, my tribes miracle rider and guardian
of our safety and protector of the land we lived upon. I now pass this trusted
power on to you Billy Steele," the aging medicine man said with reverence.
"Why are you giving it to me," Billy asked, with puzzlement and amazement as
he felt the arrowhead shimmering in his hand.
"You have proven yourself worthy, my son, both in your words and deeds from
the day of your birth," White Eagle replied confidently. "I used the power of
the Manitou wisely as I held the strength of the gods in my command. But I
became a betrayer of the arrowheads magic, and released the arrowheads tragic
curse when I was forced to reveal that The Manitou and myself were one in the
same. In a time long gone, " White Eagle said tearfully, "I had to tell my
secret to save the life of my beloved princess Gentle Dove. As punishment for
this one sacrifice, the power of the Manitou was taken from me. It was taken by
the other Great Spirits. They placed a curse on me. And since that time, I had
been searching for a new warrior to protect the plains. And that new warrior is
you, Billy Steele."
The grizzled skinned White Eagle told Billy, who was destined to become his
spiritual successor, of how he became the arrowheads betrayer and unleashed
its tragic curse.
Afterwards, White Eagle descended into a state of guilt driven madness. Next Page Copyright © 1999, 2000, 2001 Spell Binder, sffworld.com. All rights reserved.
