BILLY STEELE: KID RANGER--THE DARK SKULL'S REVENGE (1 rating) by Ronald Binder
Page 16 of 18 "Here, my son," the ancient Indian wizard announced, "Now you have realized
the true magic in and outside of your soul." The black masked tornado rider
swiftly wrapped himself in the great white buffalo skin, "Tatanka." The warrior
disappeared in the cloak of invisibility just as Lucy Fur hurled her infernal
meteor at him.
The flaming rock threw through the air missing its intended target. Boom!
The boulder exploded against a canyon wall leaving the warrior unhurt. The
Lightning Warrior retaliated by throwing his Thunderhawk tomahawk at his
attacker. His aim was divinely true as the weapon’s blade was deeply buried in
Lucy Fur’s chest. As blood gushed profusely from the monster, she ordered her
demonic outlaws to destroy her avenging assailant.
While the devil horse riders charged the warrior, again opening hell fire
with their six guns, their target placed the simple, ceremonial wooden mask
upon his face. The Lightning Warrior used the power of his imagination to
envision himself to transform into a magnificent whirlwind, a tornado twister,
the most powerful force ever created by Mother Nature’s hand.
The strength of the great spirit of the storm’s wind swept all the heinous
minions of Satan from the land. The creatures screamed in agony as their bodies
flew asunder. The gusts were so stupendous they blew Lucy Fur, her demonic
outlaw riders and her saloon from the surface world back into the bowels of
their infernal abyss.
Their shrieks fell on merciless ears as their bodies crashed through the
saloon’s walls. The repulsive roadhouse then exploded in a blazing flash, as
the gaping hand of Hell seemed to pull Lucy Fur and her demons down to the
netherworld. Any evil stragglers felt the sting of the warrior’s whip and
became extinguished from the Earth.
The Lightning Warrior stood in triumph over the battle scene. As he surveyed
the land, he saw that all traces of the evil he dispatched were nowhere to be
found in the clearing. Only the faint stench of evaporating smoke remained. The
grand face of White Eagle smiled down upon his chosen successor, as The
Lightning Warrior looked above into his mentor’s eyes in a smile of gratitude.
"Well done, my son," the great guardian congratulated his pupil on his
victory.
For White Eagle, Billy and his Lightning Warrior super ego was not just his
son, student and successor, but also the ancient medicine man’s means of
redemption. After losing his Manitou powers for betraying his promise to the
great spirits to save a loved one, White Eagle vowed to see his student remain
true to the magical gifts. The disgraced Indian wizard promised to prove
himself worthy to his heavenly fathers to see that Billy would not make the
errors he once made. If Billy’s spiritual guardian wants to join his beloved
Gentle Dove in a paradise beyond the Earth, he must complete the enormous task
of training his worthy successor.
Hoof beats could be heard in the distance. Holt’s Rangers galloped closer.
"Maybe Billy headed this way Col.," yelled the booming voice of Sgt. Big Boy.
The rangers had been searching for their adopted son for hours.
As White Eagle disappeared into the clouds, The Lightning Warrior then
raised his black arrowhead above his head to revert back to Billy Steele. Billy
warmly reunited with his ranger family and as night fell, the kid ranger now
safe with his unit, headed towards his Fort Yuma home. Col. Tim, beaming
happily towards Billy handed his son the American flag. And the boy proudly
carried it along the glory trail. The entire West seemed to smile that
night. Next Page Copyright © 1999, 2000, 2001 Ronald Binder, sffworld.com. All rights reserved. No part of this may be reproduced or reprinted without permission in writing from the author.
