 Coonsumerism by Blueblood Consumerism Shopping malls are your churches, act of buying your sacrament As if a pilgrim, you pay them visits every so often Never content, you buy stuff ever more obsessively, Spending from your bottomless bank accounts, At a breakneck pace, whether you need it or not, Fabulously, you breathe among dearly overpriced materials Penthouse suites, limousine rides, precious jewelry, and whatnot All of those extravagant and off-limits commodities Of opulent lifestyle that only a handful can afford Absolutely oblivious to the workings of the real world, Seriously lacking in the sense of social etiquette, Taking pride in possession, wearing that facade of fakeness But, internally, you long for true peace and happiness You suffocate in their absence, sinking in that plush leather couch You have joy around you but no capacity to enjoy it Overstuffed there you are and so is your surrounding You want to acquire more when you already have a mountain to discard As more massive bodies warp more space around them, so do loaded people Having a grip on more resources, they too can warp a social space And those less fortunate ones, reluctantly, Gravitate towards and fall into that warp never to get out.
