Poems
- That Night
- Rock N Roll Dream

That Night
         by Sue Bridge

The night is long,
My eyes are heavy,
The candle burned out
Only the moon reveals us
And our innocence
Your laughter
His song
The sound of youth....
It kills the silence.
Tonight could be the longest
Ever
Out on our own
The feeling of independence
Almost strangles us
But
Caught in our throats
Home sickness
With its sickly taste
Taints the 'mellows we toasted
Though who would dare to admit?
The night is long
And may change us forever
Tonight...
We are exposed.
No secrets
But weariness
And pacts which will be broken
Stories of the future,
Dream and quests
Whispered beneath the moon
Tonight we'll make a promise
To ourselves
To each other
TONIGHT WILL LAST FOREVER
... .... ..... .... ... ...
Today is long, it reminds her of a night long ago
That lasted forever
And that changed her....
Sat alone in a desolate house
She flicks thru a picture book
Photographs protected by a layer of dust
Of the night
That, somehow changed us all
Faded smiles
Forgotten faces
Sat against the moonlit night
Fingers linked together
Making a promise to each other...
That same sickly feeling rises in her throat
The promise
Now broken into a hundred pieces
Had been erased
But the pictures tell a story
Of a night that lasted forever
And that changed lives
