The Decision

Chapter One.

As the chauffeur dropped Sarah of in front of the mansion, she couldn't believe what she was seeing. The mansion was enormous and it looked like it was very old. She turned to ask the driver a question but he had already droven of. Sarah went up the path that led to the front door, even that was huge. The Martin's had told her where she could find the key. As she put the key in the lock, she took one last breath before entering the place.

She was excited but scared at the same time. Usually the mansion's were houses, she wasn't used to there way of living. The door squeaked a little as she opened it, she couldn't believe her eyes. The entry way alone, was as big as her apartment. She slowly walked in and there on the table were the instructions the Martin's had left for her. There weren't many but one was particularly odd, she was by no means allowed to go up into the attic. "How wierd is that" sarah murmered under neath her breath. She had no intention of going near that place. She did want to look around a bit but she decided to get a bite to eat first. She went into the room that was on the left of the entry way.It looked like there living room,as she glanced around the room, two paintings caught her eye."They can't be real"sarah thought but as she approached and realized that they indeed were the real thing."Rape of Europa"that was done in 1559 and "The Tempest"in 1506."These paintings must be priceless" sarah remarked. There were many more that hung on these old walls but they were the only two that she recognized.

Sarah couldn't believe her eyes, she was in awe of all that was in this mansion.Never, even in her dreams, could she ever imagine having all of this wealth."Why do they need me,this place must have a staff of twenty with a place this size."Then she decided that when the Martin's go away, they must give there staff time of."That"s a good explanation"she thought. She was starting to get hungry and headed of to find the kitchen. She passed many rooms, all with white sheets thrown over the furniture."This place is kinda big for just two people"sarah whispered.Sarah continued on her journey,at least it felt like one, hours had semed to pass before she found the kitchen. She started to make a sandwich, when the lights went out, sarah looked out the window and noticed that there was a bad storm."This is just great,i don't know where anything is in this house." sarah yelled. She decided not to go looking for the basement,it was one part of any home that she always avoided and she would not make an exception this time. She started opening drawers and found a flashlight, along with some candles. She lit the candles and looked arond the kitchen,"I'll clean up in the morning"sarah said tiredly.

The house was quiet, she started back into the living room and installed herself on the couch. She reached into her back pack and pulled out a book."This should pass the time for a few hours."she told herself.Sarah had been without electricity for almost six hours and she was becoming restless but she didn't feel like reading another book. This was only a weekend job but it payed very well, housesitting was the perfect job for her, while she's finishing her studies. She had only one semester left and then she could start her life. She had only herself to count on since her parents died.A shiver ran through her body,"This place is making me nervous"sarah said. The house was old and without any power very dark.Sarah started thinking about her conversation with her boss. The Martin's had specifically asked for her and they had asked alot of questions about her family and they found it interesting that both her parents were dead and that she had no family to speak of.She knew questions had to be asked about her, after all she would be staying in their home for the entire weekend. It just seemed that the questions were a little to personal.
