The Decision (17 ratings) by Taylor Brooks
Page 2 of 5 Sarah was getting sleepy,it was only nine o'clock but she had had a long
day.She unfolded her sleeping bag and settled in for a good nights sleep.Maybe
when she woke up,the power would be back on.As she started to drift of to
sleep,she thought she heard a sound,she listened intently.Scratching"Maybe it's
mice"she thought. The scratching started to get louder,"that doesn't sound like
mice,it's to loud"The sounds seemed to becoming from upstairs. She decided to
wait until morning to check it out,she didn,t feel like stumbling around in the
dark and besides she was a little scared.A few hours had passed and she was
still awake, the noises were keeping her up and driving her crazy.Maybe if she
made some noise, the mice or whatever was up there would get scared and take
of.Sarah started jumping up and down, clapping her hands, all was silent for a
few minutes, until she heard a loud noise,it sounede like something was jumping
as well."What the hell is going on?"she asked herself.
She tried to calm herself down, she was getting really scared. She was
starting to wonder if someone or something else was in this place with herMaybe
she should take a look around, she would certainly put herself at ease,if she
could finnd out what it was..Sarah mustered up all her courage and started for
the stairs. As she looked up,even the stairs seemed imposing. They were wide
enough that four people could walk side by side. The Martins sure did like
things grandiose. She listened very carefully, not hearing anything, started up
the stairs, taking them one at a time, trying not to make any noise. She reached
the top and there,in the ceiling was the entrance to the attic, which you had to
use a stick with a hook on the end,to pull the stairs down.Sarah remembered the
note left by the Martin's instructing her not to go into the attic.Sarah
checked out each and every room, which had taken the whole night to do."maybe it
was just my imagination."she thought and just as she was about to go down
stairs,she heard a shuffling sound.She turned around and listened.After a few
minutes she was convinced that her mind was playing tricks on her.
Chapter Two
Sarah returned downstairs and was thankful it was morning but she was
exhausted. She would try to take a little nap and then take a walk. After a few
hours, sarah woke up and decided to go for a refreshing walk. She wandered the
grounds for some time before returning. She started getting hungry and turned
back towards the mansion. As she walked into the kitchen, she noticed that it was
an absolute mess. When she had been in the kitchen yesterday she had cleaned up
after herself and now there was food all over the place, that's when she noticed
a window open.'It must have been a raccoon or something that got in,Damn
it,I'll have to clean this all up"Sarah said with dismay. She started cleaning
the kitchen and when she was all finished, she prepared a sandwich for
herself. Before leaving, she made sure that all the windows were shut,She didn't
want to have to clean up again.
The power was still out and she was becoming bored. She decided to take a
look around, she returned upstairs and started with the first room, she knew she
couldn't do them all, there just wasn't enough time.Sarah looked around the room
and noticed some boxes.Sarah opened the first one annd found some very old
photo albums,as she flipped through the pages, she noticed a picture of the
Martin's,when they were younger.Mrs.Martin was holding a baby. Next Page Copyright © 1999, 2000, 2001 Taylor Brooks, sffworld.com. All rights reserved.
