The Lady in Black by Ashley Butler

The year was 1812..
I came from a small town named Winter Hill Georgia. The town had got it's
name because the whole foundation lay on a hill. I lived with my parents on our
plantation overlooking a lake.
It was called the Cryler plantation. My name was Jenny Cryler I was the only
heir to my father's beautiful plantation. My mother and father could have no
more children after I .
My best friend was Lilly Vanhorn. One night her and I were staying over at
her grandmother's . Her grandmother was very eccentric, alot of the town had
labled her the town loon.
To me she seemed to be in her right mind, very sweet old lady, loved
children,loved Lilly.
That night Mrs.Vanhorn had told us a story. The story of the lady in
black
She had said that it all started when Miss Lavorie a widower with two small
children,
had murdered her children by poisoning them. One boy one girl ages six and
seven both fell ill from the poison and died within hours. Miss Lavorie then to
her own demise went crazy, she ran around the whole town asking if anybody had
seen her children . Not realizing that she had murdered the two. The town was
not all together sure that she had done it yet so she had not yet been
arrested. She never was arrested for one of the fellow town's people had takin
her to see the burial mounds of her two young children . Upon that Miss Lavorie
hung herself in her home . She was found by a delivery boy hanging from the
ceiling.
That though was not the end of Miss Lavorie or her children . They are all
three said to still be seen wandering about the grounds of their home , trying
to find eachother. There was said to be a blizzard the night the children had
died, so now any time that there is a blizzard the children are spotted by the
living. As for the mother she herself can be spotted on any night, for she is
always there every night
besides the nights of the blizzards. They say Miss Lavorie is forever
destined to be searching for her children . Lilly had asked her grandmother
then, how were they sure that it was Miss Lavorie..!
The Grandmother had replied by saying she always wore black, often referred
to as the lady in black. We had asked where this supposed house was. The
grandmother told us beyond the hill and through the woods . Nobody has lived in
that house since the murders she stated. I don't reccommend the two of you
going there either she said. With that she went off to bed .
As kids we were very curious Lilly and I . We had planned to go inspect the
house the next day during the daytime hours. Sure enough we did, after
breakfast we headed off on our journey. On our way there it began to snow some.
Nothing to worry us out of going though. Finally after about two miles down the
path, we came upon a big beautiful house. Though it seemed somewhat spooky,
seeing as how they had all died there and it has been abandoned for so long. It
was a three story victorian, one day beautiful in all it's glory. We headed
toward the house as the snow picked up. Before we knew it we could no longer
see but a mere four feet in front of us it began snowing so heavily. Next Page Copyright © 1999, 2000, 2001 Ashley Butler, sffworld.com. All rights reserved.
