The Lady in Black

We made our way for the house, to turn back now would surely result in death. We started up the stairs to the house, where we heard the laughter of children eminating from inside. Knees shaking and scared as we were, there was no choice but to go inside. As we walked through the door an eerie silence hung in the air, we made our way into the kitchen where we had found some candles, and matches . We had lit every candle we could find so as not to be left in the dark in this creep but yet beautiful old house.

Hours went by, Lilly and I huddled in the corner scared of what might be there, the wind howling out side, as the snow fell heavily on the ground.

Then there it was out of the silence a little voice said "hello". We looked around and didn't see anything. It came again "hello". Although petrified I muttered back a hello. That's when we saw them, the little boy and little girl. "Have you seen our mother we can't find her"? Asked the young voices.

With a shaky voice I muttered the word "no". With that the whole house took a trip back into time. We saw the two children laying on their deathbeds, crying out for their mother whom was not there.

Lilly and I watched in horror as the two children suffered, crying out for their mother.

The children slowly faded away, only for a new entity to appear, that of a woman, not only a woman the woman known as the lady in black. You could see the depths of despair on her face.

She stood there staring at us, Lilly asked "Why"? "Why did you poison them"?

The lady in black motioned for us to follow her. Scared but curious we did so.

She led us up the stairs, to a closet. Then she vanished.

I said to Lilly "let's see what is in there"! With that we opened the closet door.

It was dark but our candle light was enough to shine on the old photo album!

We pulled it out sat down and opened it up. Revealing to us Mrs.Vanhorn and the two children. "What's my grandmother doing in that book"?! Cried Lilly. "I don't know"! I shreiked!

As we looked on we found a family portrait, it was Mrs.Vanhorn a man and the two

children. There was another picture in the book, that of the lady in black. It had read to my beloved brother and sister.

"Lilly, I think this woman is trying to tell us that she is not the Lady in Black , that your

grandmother is". Lilly was crying, she herself knew it must be so. Her grandmother had poisoned the children. Then hung the eldest daughter, and dressed her in black, therefore making it look as if she hung herself . Creating the story lady in black.

While the girls were looking at this book the grandmother, was making her way up the stairs. She was shaking as she walked up the stairs for fear she might see something from her past.

The girls alarmed at the footsteps huddled in the corner. The door flew open and there stood Mrs. Vanhorn . "I warned you two not to come here"! "Why couldn't you have just listened to me"? She asked as she shut the door and headed towards the girls. "You murdered them grandma, all of them"! Cried Lilly. "Yes I did, said the grandmother solemnly". Through the silence we all heard the cries of the children.
