She made bold to ask after the seventh day.

"My lady, forgive my boldness but do you think you might be with child?" Emerald almost scoffed at the idea then she began to think about it. It had been some time since she last had her courses. She sat at the table in the kitchen and counted back. She was six weeks late. She looked at the woman with wide eyes.

"I have been sick every morning for a week now and I am always tired and I can never eat much of anything."

"Are your breasts tender? Do they seem larger?" Asked Mrs. Langley. Emerald thought about it a minute.

"Yes they are. And all day today I have had the oddest cravings. Oh do you really think I could be with child?" She asked with hope and fear. Mrs. Langley covered the young woman’s hand and simply smiled.

That night Emerald had dinner brought up to the master bedroom and all set up and ready waiting for Rogue along with a hot bath. He was surprised but pleased to see her waiting for him as well as everything else.

She bathed Rogue that night and feed him then rubbed his sore muscles with warm mint oil. After they had made love three times they lay in their bed together with the curtains pulled back to let in the warmth of the fire. It was getting closer to the winter months.

She propped herself up on his chest and looked at him. He was playing with her hair and wondering where the little girl had gone and where this woman had come from, not that he was complaining of course.

"Rogue, I have something to tell you." She said quietly, tracing the wound from the arrow that had healed well, but was going to leave a scar.

"I am listening." He said looking at her face. She avoided his eyes a moment remembering her harsh words to him long ago, or what seemed so long ago.

She looked him in the eyes and blurted it out. "I’m with child." At first nothing registered on his face then slowly his eyes began to glow and a smile crept across his face.

"A re you sure?" He asked then chided himself. You saw all the signs yourself you fool, the morning sickness, the behavior, the odd food and her passing out the other day.

"I am very sure. I am at least six weeks. It must have happened that night you rescued me." She was blushing. He hugged her tightly then kissed her with great love and passion.

Suddenly he was above her pushing back the covers. He looked her body over as if seeing her for the first time. Her breasts where fuller and her skin had a wondrous glow to it and her eyes shown like never before.

"Yes my love you are indeed with child. Our children." He laughed like a mad man then jumped out of bed and began to dress.

"Rogue what are you doing?" She asked.

"I am going to shout it from the High Tower. I am going to tell the world." He laughed drunk with joy. She grabbed him and made him stop.

"Nay let this be our night, our secret for now. Tomorrow is soon enough to tell the others. Please Rogue come back to me." He stopped and looked at her on her knees, naked in their bed with her glorious hair covering her body and he knew he had never in his life seen anything more beautiful. He was naked again and back in their bed in two heartbeats.

They giggled and played then began thinking of names for their unborn child.
