" Here's some lilypear tea. I'm taking some of the young hunters out today. Don't push yourself or you'll have me to deal with."

" Yes love." They kissed then Shadowswift headed for the door. His daughter suddenly screamed out.

" She's jealous love mate. You better kiss her too." He came back and picked her up.

" Don't worry little chieftess before you know it you'll be out there with your mother and I." He kissed her then tickled her. She cooed at him then went back to sleep in her mother's arms.

Brighteyes and Firestar were now ten summers old and very mischievous.

" Over here Brighteyes. There, see I told you that's were they always went." They were spying on two young elves making love.

" Why are they doing that Firestar?"

" Because they love each other. When you find your soul mate you'll know her soul name and she'll know yours." They snuck back to the village.

" How do you know all this stuff?"

" My mother and father tell me. I'm going to be chieftess someday. I have to know a lot."

" Can I be chief? Please Firestar."

" Only if we become soul mates but because it's my birth right I'll be in charge more than my mate." Suddenly her father swung her up in the air.

" And where little chieftess did you get that silly idea?" She giggled and squealed as her father played with her.

" You daddy. Mommy's not a real gold elf and she came from a different world."

" Your mother and I are equal Firestar. We both have the same charge, as you put it. And don't forget it young chieftess. " Firefox showed up then.

" Hello all. Excuse me Shadowswift but some of the Fawns from the Singing Mountains are here to see you. Brighteyes your father is looking for you."

" I better go. See you later Firestar. Bye Shadowswift, Firefox." Brighteyes hurried off and Shadowswift left to meet with the Fawns. Firestar went to the spring her mother took her too when she was younger.

" I wish I had a cat cub. Brighteyes and I are the only ones who don't and I'm the chief's daughter."

" Well why don't you ask for one then." It was Moondance.

" Oh Hello mother. You startled me. You're so quiet."

" Don't worry dear you'll learn. You're still young. Enjoy it while you can. Remember I missed ten years of my life." Firestar laid her head on her mother's lap as Moondance sang to her.

As the years went by Firestar grew to be a great beauty with great skills and Brighteyes became very handsome with great skills as well. He had both the healing and dreaming gifts.

" This year on their sixteenth summer Firestar, Brighteyes, Tinkleweb, Starblossom, Arrowshaft, Tigerwolf and the twins Tog and Tig will become true warriors." Velore stood and came forward and touched each elf.

" You all have an inner fear that you must face to be a true warrior. So go now and return soon as the true elf warriors you are."

The young elves were lead to the Crying Valley past the Singing Mountains.

" In two days time we will return and bring you home as the warriors you are." Shadowswift and the others left. They would stay in the Fawn village as they did every year. Each elf was confronted with his or her fear and defeated it. All, except Firestar and Brighteyes.

" What is your fear Brighteyes?"
