Seducer of Souls - Chapter Two (21 ratings) by Tracey Croft
Page 2 of 4 Han did have an idea, but he needed Serge's total dedication. "Why are
you so concerned about Ann's welfare?" asked Han. Serge jumped out of his
chair and started to pace around the cosy living room. "You surprise me
Han. How could you ask such a question? It is obvious that I would
be concerned, she helped me get free from Draken and returned me to human
form." He stopped pacing to face Han. "The only other person I have ever
been
able to rely on is you. I would have thought you would know me better
than
to ask such a heartless question."
Feeling unfazed by his outburst Han said, "So it wouldn't be because you
love
her then?" Unable to respond to such a blatant question Serge slumped back
in
the chair, all anger forgotten he stared down at his feet. "How long did you
take to figure that out?" Han laughed only to stop gripping his ribs
painfully. Serge laughed. "You old goat, I can't hide anything from
you." "It's a good job you can't otherwise you would have got yourself in a
lot of trouble a long time ago," said Han. "Do you have a plan
then?" Nodding Han said, "Yes I do. I think there is a certain old
woman that would help us." Leaning forward, Han stared at Serge intently.
"That depends on you though." Serge did not care much for the sound of this
plan. Shaking his head, he asked. "What are you getting me into
now?" Han smiled. "Don't you worry? I will explain everything to you
tomorrow before we set off." "Set off... where?" asked Serge. "Rhythm
Valley," said Han.

A strong breeze ruffled Han's mop of white hair as he and Serge rambled
through Norstar Forest in the direction of Corus Plains. Glancing over at
the young man, he felt vexed with Serge's pensive manner.
Serge paused and sniffed the air. "There are deer close by," he
said. "Your senses are still highly tuned then?" said Han. "Yes... I
still
have to remind myself not to cock my leg when taking a leak too."
Han chuckled lightly trying not to hurt his ribs in the process. "Are you
speaking to me again?" said Han. Serge frowned at him before returning his
gaze ahead. "Come on. You can't stay angry with me all the way to the
valley," said Han. "Why the hell not. You are putting me up for stud
like a prized bull. How would you feel?" snapped Serge. Han bristled. "Don't
give me that bruised ego attitude. You know fine well that not only would
you be helping Ann, but you would also be helping the Solace women. I am
sure Cull would greatly appreciate the opportunity to free Ann, with such a
generous offer from yourself that could be possible." Serge stopped facing
Han. "What if you are wrong. What if I go ahead with this little scheme
of
yours and they chase us after the deed is done?" "No. I don't believe they
are that shallow. Cull seemed to care about Ann's safety," said Han. Serge
resumed walking. "I hope your right."
Han did not respond, but quietly hoped so too. He knew it had been
many
years since the Solace women had included themselves in any conflict outside of
their private domain and without Cull's help, he felt they had little chance of
freeing Ann from Draken's prison. Next Page Copyright © 1999, 2000, 2001 Tracey Croft, sffworld.com. All rights reserved.
