Seducer of Souls - Chapter Two (21 ratings) by Tracey Croft
Page 4 of 4 Han shuffled nervously under the curious expressions of
the daughters. Smiling humourlessly Cull said, "How considerate of
you." Her sarcasm was not lost on Han. "I thought you would have been not
only grateful for the opportunity for one of your daughters to continue the
family line. But also be pleased to help us free Ann." "What makes you
think your male friend is good enough?" retorted Cull.
Before Han could resume their argument Deana approached Serge.
Reaching
up she began to feel around his face with her delicate hands, tracing down his
neck and chest. Serge tensed under the young girls inspection, feeling ill
at
ease with her touch. Without turning to the others Deana asked them to leave
the two of them alone.
Being careful not to look at Deana, Serge nervously watched Han and the
women
wander off across the fields. He had not expected the daughters being
interested in Han's scheme and had hoped the old woman would help them out of
fondness for Ann. "You do not want to breed with me?" said
Deana. "It was not something I was happy about." "I see. You find
me disagreeable then?" Serge looked at her for the first time. Her
blindness gave her a startled appearance, but other than that, he thought her
delicate face was pretty. "No....I think you are nice," he said. "You
love
Ann. That is why you feel so uncomfortable with me?" Serge began to
wonder if his heart lay on his sleeve for all to see. "I don't think she
would think too highly of me. Do you?" Deana took Serge's rough hand
in
her own. "I know she loved you enough to make great sacrifices. The
question is will you do the same for her?" Serge gazed into her pale face
and
gently gripped her hand.
