- A Lesson To Learn

A Lesson To Learn
         by Dena Daigle

I thought that your love was true and sincere,
and that forever you'd hold me near.
Though now I see that I was wrong,
for you had another all along.
Just when I thought I was the only one,
I then discovered that you have a son.
A beautiful life so innocent and pure;
think of all the pain he'll endure.
How could you hide a special part of you?
I know now what I must do.
I must learn to let you go,
so that your son, you can get to know.
For the life you created you should never be ashamed,
just realize "player" that it's part of the game.
But now you'll have all the time you need,
to be the sunshine for that tiny seed.
For a man who could lie about his child,
is no man at all and not worth my wild.
Hopefully soon you'll learn to grow up,
or alone is where you're bound to be stuck.
I just hope that from all of this, you've learned a lesson,
an innocent child is not a burden, but a blessing.
So save your lies for someone else to bother,
but for the sake of your son, learn to be a Father.
