Awakening (Book Synopsis) by Alexander Degrate Buy from iUniverse.comPage 1 of 1 Synopsis: A nonstop action thriller of survival and cunning against
superhuman forces as two humans, abducted to an alien planet, face civil war
and
vengeful gods.
Ever wake up and not know where you are? That is what
happens to a young woman, Samantha, when she goes to
visit her aunt on a family vacation. Not only is she
not sure where she is, but how long she?s been there.
Bellmany, a woman who claims to be a deposed goddess
along with Dair and Lycus, who say they are the
half-mortal sons of gods, have awakened the two human
sisters and half-human child, Rikka, from a coma
state. Samantha and Isabelle find that they have been
kidnapped to an alien planet, Gramotheus, and the only
explanation that they can get is "it must have been
the will of the gods." Bellmany tells Samantha that
Rikka belongs to her and sends the three away under
the care of Dair and Lycus to the sacred Isle of
Torian. She hopes they will be safe until Bellmany
can figure out a way to use the three to undermine the
gods and get her power back. On the adventure of a
lifetime filled with mystery and suspense, Samantha
searches for answers and a way to make a life for
herself despite overwhelming odds of trying to survive
in a strange, backward world and look after her
younger sister and daughter. In the meanwhile she is
up against strongly entrenched religious beliefs and
the fact that she is an alien.
"Unbelievable! I’ll tell you what is unbelievable, my sister
and I were on vacation with our mother in Roswell, and that’s the last thing
either of us can remember. The next thing we know we wake up in that cave with
you, Lycus and Lady Bellmany. You tell Belle and me we are on another planet,
but even you don’t know how or why we are here. If we don’t know where we are,
our parents sure don’t know where we are. Do you know how worried they must
be?!" Tears were streaming down Sam’s face, and her voice was cracking, "You
tell us we have to stick close to you to be safe, but you won’t explain exactly
why. On top of all that, you tell us that Rikka is related to us, except she is
almost the color of snow, has elf-like ears and levitates in midair. You make
us
responsible for her by making me her mother. Don’t you think it is about time
you laid all your cards on the table?!" Sam screamed at Dair.
Reviews: Awakening: isn't a bunch of bug people running around. I
compare it to Dune, but it's no copycat version. I got interested in Degrate
when I saw other discussions about his other books.-Deja.com Sci-Fi

Just read "Awakening" in the "Kidnapped to an Alien Planet" series and I can
hardly wait for the next book. I want to find out if the heroine is 18 or 218
or
what?! -
