Dragonkin Lament (8 ratings) by Meaghan Duke
What happened to the days of old
When I was young and free and bold?
Why can't I now be borne away
And held only in the wind's sly sway?
Where're my wings with their great breadth?
Whence did go my roaring breath?
Why must I wear this human form
Instead of what should be the norm?
Why aren't I free to fly once more
Up to the very haven's door?
What do I miss with these new eyes
That look up, clouded, to the skies?
But, alas, I can do naught
But sit and ponder on some new thought
Until I am taken by sleep at night
And free my soul to resume its flight
