Decide your fate (Book Excerpt) by Jason Ellis Buy from amazon.comPage 4 of 4 Come and lie down." He patted the space next to him on the bed to gesture
where he thought she should be.
"Why?.........so we can have sex?.....you think I'm in the mood for that!"
The husband obviously knew he was not going to calm his wife down so went
back to being quiet as she continued her cursing around the bedroom. He watched
for a while as she continued to pace up and down, muttering under her breath
and out loud, before walking to the drinks cabinet by the wall and pouring
herself a large whisky. Her husband shook his head in disgust as he hated the
smell of neat liquor on his wife's breath. She downed the entire drink in one
quick mouth full and it seemed to have the desired effect as she remained
silent for the longest period of time since arriving home. The drink was
followed by the lighting of a cigarette which the husband didn't object to as
he was a smoker himself.
"I'm sorry I went on a bit darling." She said.
"Don't be silly. Everyone has bad days at the office, we just work in the
biggest of them all." Her husband replied.
Patricia walked towards the bed that her husband was lying on and stubbed
out the cigarette in the ashtray, untied her robe and let it drop to the floor
leaving her naked, before she lied down with her head on his chest, gently
kissing it as she did.
"You know the Admiral retires in a week and I'm going to be applying for the
post in a couple of days."
Patricia smiled at her husband's words and pulled herself up the bed to kiss
him on the lips.
"If you were to take over, things would change I suppose." Her sentence was
accompanied by playful strokes up her husband's body and across his face and
lips with her fingers. He didn't answer but just simply kissed her again. The
embrace lasted a long time and realising her husband's arousal, Patricia
stopped teasing him and moved off the bed, as she had work to do. She picked up
her dressing gown and pulled it on again before leaving her husband and walking
into the study.
She lit another cigarette as she sat down at her desk, pulling out all the
transfer files she needed to complete for the new representative of the deal to
take off her.
She had calmed down since her outburst in front of her husband but was still
very angry. She had only showed a small amount of initiative in the dealings,
and if the Admiral had known where the executive of the fuel company really
was, in an hotel room with a first class call girl, he would have
realised that she was right in saying he could not be reached. The Admiral knew
nothing of what had started to go on within the negotiation talks. The back
handers offered, and extra perks suggested to allow a deal to close early. If
he did it would be a shocking revelation for him.
To her though the Admiral was simply a figurehead who had no idea of the
pressure that inter planetary dealings took on all parties concerned, now that
he had a large staff to carry out negotiations for him. After the trading had
begun and the UBG was in it's infancy, the Admiral had taken a very hands on
role in negotiations, but had spent most of his years as chief executive
delegating the responsibility to others.
She began thinking about the remarks her husband had made.
If he replaced the Admiral after his retirement, life would be very good
indeed. The thought made her smile briefly before the large and densely packed
folders in front of her made the upcoming task seem endless. She stubbed out
her finished cigarette and began to work. Buy from amazon.com
