Duel (Part 1) (5 ratings) by Gabor Ferencz & Dwayne Webster
Page 18 of 18 Barthamor became spiteful, and he developed malice against Veríl. He was
angry, and that anger he smote down on to the earth. His people looked at the
heavens, and they knew something was wrong. And so they changed, as Barthamor
changed, and they became deformed, only shadows of their former selves.
Barthamor could not stand to live with the other two gods, and so he fled the
heavens, and he came down to earth as a great angel of destruction. He stood in
front of his people, and he was worshipped by them. He chose five of his most
loyal followers, and he raised them to higher beings. He gave them power, both
spiritual and physical, and the five of them together nearly equalled his own.
And he called them Mélkra.
Veríl and Huema realised what they done, and they felt sorrow. Sorrow for
losing one of their own, and sorrow, for what became of their actions. They
tried reaching Barthamor, but he became evil in his very soul, and nothing they
said mattered.
And the Humans became anxious. The Verilíí felt the sorrow of their goddess,
and they felt something brewing. And so, they chose a few of their numbers, who
spent all their time to develop themselves, to learn battle, to become
powerful.
And then, Barthamor sent his army towards the west. Towards the humans, and
the Verilíí. The masses of barthamor’s children, the deformed Dordans, led by
the five Melkras rolled toward the countries inhabited by the humans. Huema
could not let that happen, and so, he raised mountains between now dark plains
of Ekhon, and the small human country called Cursada.
This obstacle bought the Verilíí time, and they organised themselves. The
human wielders raised their own army, backed up by the humans, and the led
their force through Allia, to Verilí, and the joined forces moved to intercept
the Ekhonii army. They collected any able bodied human from cursada, and the
Verilíí taught them physical combat. They became masters of arms, during that
small period of waiting for the ekhonii.
They could not cross the mountains of division, and so they waited. The
cursaders already in possession of the art of working metal, created their army
magnificent armours. They wielded sharp weapons, as their kin, the mages
wielded sharp minds.
And so, the time came, when Barthamor created a way through the mountains of
divide. He led his army through himself, and he was unstoppable. His wrath was
magnificent. And so, the two remaining Gods in heaven gave power to one human
to match that of Barthamor himself. This human, Relden, stood in front of the
remaining host of wielders, and he became destruction incarnate. He destroyed
the forces of Barthamor, and he scattered the remains back into Ekhon. Many
retreated from his power, yet there were still more coming, constantly being
created by Barthamor himself.
And then, Barthamor came. In one final battle, Relden and Barthamor clashed,
and it was a battle to behold. Earth and sky split, as the energies being
wielded even reached the heavens. And the world looked in amazement, as these
two titans fought their last battle. And then, Relden got the upper hand, and
caught Barthamor by the neck, holding him down He could not kill an immortal,
so he locked Barthamor into an unbreakable prison. He hid the prison, in a
world outside the plane of existence of this one, where no-one could ever touch
it, and then he disappeared.
The Melkras fled, and the remaining army of Ekhonii retreated to Ekhon. The
Humans had enough of war, and settled down, putting away their armours for
worse days. But the Battle hardened Verilíí could not chance another war, and
they forced their way into Ekhon, all the way through it, in a trail of blood
and destruction.
And then, having reached another mountain range, and upon crossing it, they
settled down in that uninhabited wilderness. They settled down, and they called
the land Verilídan, for what they have lost by learning battle. And they called
themselves the Helios, Warriors of Veríl.
And so, came to be the division of Verilíí. The humans settled, yet peace
was not yet restored. The Melkras still roamed the earth, huge creatures of
extreme power. And so, Relden reappeared, and in one mighty effort, he split
himself into five beings. He became five, and he dedicated his life to hunting
down these creatures of destruction.
As he became five, they turned to five ways, and sought out the hounds of
death. They found them one by one, and in titanic battles, they banished them
to follow their master. And then, Relden disappeared again, and has never been
seen since.
The Ekhonii, were scattered and Humans began to inhabit parts of Ekhon. Yet
none could live there long, and remain loyal to their God. They turned evil,
from the ground, from the mountains and the rivers. And this way, Barthamor
slowly gained more allies… More followers… And so, our story came to be…
