Poems
- My season of love

My season of love (5 ratings)
         by Chiwowa Fred

Spring is when I woke and met you,
Like a baby, rising from a deepened sleep,
Like a shining angel dressed in white,
My innocence shining pure.

You clawed me from my open bed,
Like an eagle, reaching for a flashing fish,
Like a blade of grass called to the sun,
I reached my body out to you.

I followed you as a flock of birds,
Like an open book, pages clear, clean and crisp,
Like a haunting shadow, day and night,
Becoming the bud you wanted.

I bloomed in spring a radiant blossom,
Like a drop of dew, suspended in time,
Like a blazing flare strengthening off you,
Glowing and transforming.

I held you as the sky hugs the earth,
Like a weedy rock, rooted firmly in the sand,
Like a lunging bird to swooping wind,
Driven forward by love.

I desired your firm hand on my back,
Like a guiding light within the darkest blackness,
Like the avalanche feeding the sea,
I learned to be, from you.

Summer burned, but hotter still was my raging love
Like a furnace fire destroying all in its path,
Like a heavy rain your tears fell around,
And you leered to lull me.

Then I too rained, the summer storm,
I crashed and blazed and flooded the horizon,
Vaporising my worries, creating yours,
And you wanted to dry me,
And threw me a life raft,
Tossing about,
In the blue of my oblivion,

Summer heats rays were dying down,
And the blear of autumn came creeping,
Sweeping under my door,
Stifling my fire warm in its heart,
Chilling my heart enough,
To close the door to you,
And let you freeze in winter's wrath.

I was an angel before the spring,
Like a servant sent from god to guide you,
Like a servant to sever the slave,
I bade your beck and call.

But winter is long, cold and harsh,
Like icicles slender and delicate dripping frozen life,
Like the frozen wind itself,
You blew out my flame for you
