Dream Master!
Clarence Henderson, was an up and coming African American manager for the
corporation Digital Galaxy. The company worked with NASA to provide electronic
components for space exploration. Clarence new that in order for him to move
ahead in the company he had to do more on the job, work harder, and be the
first
to present his ideas. It was Sunday as Clarence headed down California's
highway
(One ) on his way to the plant with the top down on his burgundy colored SAAB.
With the wind in his face Clarence was traversing the steep mountain walls down
the winding road but Clarence's mind continuously focused on the new
improvements he had recently developed for the project he was working on as he
felt it will increase the company's revenue and provide him with a promotion.
Then suddenly one of the front tires on the SAAB with off the pavement into the
rocky gravel road alongside the highway, Clarence over corrected the SAAB which
sent the vehicle into a fish-tail, has Clarence continued to over correct at
the
steering wheel the car hit an embankment causing Clarence's head to bounce off
the steering wheel, knocking him unconscious. When Clarence awakes he finds
himself in a hospital, in a hospital bed. Clarence looked beyond the nurse
standing at the foot of his bed checking a chart on a clipboard to the a
strange
looking man in the corridor who’s face didn’t seem to have very many features.
The man’s attire was dark blue much like tights, he even was sporting a full
length what appeared to be a dark blue colored silk cape. The stranger was
looking back, directly at Clarence as he slowly walked out of sight. From his
hospital bed Clarence asked the nurse "who is that strange man out there
wearing
a cape?" The nurse turned and looked outside Clarence's room, up and down the
corridor and then turned back toward Clarence saying, "I'm sorry sir but I see
no one wearing a cape! Perhaps it would be a good idea if you rest" Clarence
laid-back on his large white pillow and closed his eyes. Then Violently shaken
from his sleep Clarence opened his eyes again only to find bright white lights
glaring down upon him as people rushing about, talking to each other, "we have
a
pulse" "he is coming around." Clarence felt weak so he closed his eyes to
sleep.
After some time had passed Clarence again opened his eyes and was greeted by
the
same nurse he had seen before. Clarence asked, "did something happened to me
while I was sleeping?" "I don't understand what you mean." was the nurse’s
reply. Clarence proceeded to clarify, "I woke up with lights in my eyes as if I
were in an operating room." The nurse stated, "You must have been dreaming
because you have been in this bed for the last two days." As the day wore on
Clarence grew tired and decided to take a nap. While napping Clarence heard a
voice whispering his name; "Mr. Henderson ", "Mr. Henderson" Clarence opened
his
eyes to see a different nurse standing alongside his bed, even the room he was
in looked different. "Oh, you are awake" "you gave us a bit of a fright, we
thought we were going to lose you on that table." Clearance asked, "did you
have
to operate on me again" the nurse replied, "Again, Mr. Henderson you arrive at
this hospital only five hours ago, you were in a car accident. I believe you
must have been dreaming." Once again out in the corridor that strange man was
standing looking directly at Clarence. Clarence quickly pointed his finger at
the man in the hallway and asked the nurse who is that man? The nurse turned to
see what Clarence was pointing at, looking directly at the man in the cape she
turn back to Clarence and asked, "who are you pointing at?" Once again Clarence
watched the stranger slowly walked out of sight. Clarence excitedly asked, "You
Didn't See Him?" "No Mr. Henderson I saw no one outside your door, you're just
tired so why not rest now." Next Page Copyright © 1999, 2000, 2001 Leo French, sffworld.com. All rights reserved.
