The Undoing Room by Chris Fry
Page 2 of 2 He told me to find his younger self and kill him before he finds the
fountain of youth. Death is his only release.
The old man told me that the fountain does not currently exist. It does
however exist in the past. I promised to find it.
Part 3
That was 5 years ago. I stand where the old mans shack would have been had
he made it to the fountain of youth. I had never killed anyone before. In the
past I found him. Like a coward I hid behind a tree and shot him with my bow as
he walked past.
As I stand here I think of the pain I have saved. I think of all the
suffering he did, yet did not, go through having to watch his loved ones die.
Death to a human is natural. To not die would be a living hell. The body and
mind is not made to live forever.
I will always remember his last words to me. "Sometimes life just isn't
worth living". I dropped some flowers in the spot where his bed would have
been, and moved on.
