Silence (9 ratings) by Zach Gieszler
Page 2 of 2 With the TV turned off, there was no light. Without light there was no shadows.
Then because im inside the shadow the sound must be near. I search, the room
now seemed bigger, I felt as if I was outside, and as if I was someplace for
the first time. Strange. But that sound. I waited, there it was again. I
thought to myself, thump! scratch! that was it, but where did it come from, I
was hard to tell, but from what I thought it had to be behind me. So I turned
looked, nothing. My eyes glazed over my bed carefully inspecting every dark
bumped silhouette, that my sheets made in the creeping light. I thought, I will
just have to wait till I hear it again.
I started to doze of waiting for that stupid sound, and then there it was. I
was sure that I would find it this time. I hadn't moved since before, and now I
heard it in front of me. Suddenly the air was changed. It was the groggy, damp
feeling from before. I started to look at all the possible places for it to be.
First I looked at the corner where my door meets my wall. Nothing, then I
panned to my left looking at the dark little cracks underneath my closet doors,
pausing every few feet waiting for a movement. Then I heard a knock on my door,
it was my parents, coming to say goodnight. I opened the door slowly but not
suspicious, my dad was standing there with my mom, but they didn't look the
same for some reason. My Dads face was long and drawn out, and almost looked
dead, my moms was pale and thin, and the light behind her made her look almost
like demon. Well I was tired, I went to hug my dad and he stepped back and
said,
"Not tonight, tonight you will sleep good without a hug."
this was strange so almost unsettling to my stomach, so I turned around,
then I felt a sharp blow to the back of my neck, I dropped to the floor, making
a swift thump with my hip hitting the ground, then something started to pull at
my ankles and I reached out for anything but the only thing I could manage was
to scratch my bedside with my fingernails.
