Deep Sleep
         by Robert Gordon

Deep Sleep

Lay down your head, child, sleep and sleep
Fall into slumber, deep and deep
For in your dreams no harm is done
Dream a dream, till morning come
Then wake, child, wake, and see the day
The sun is up, its time to play

Rest your eyes, love, sleep and sleep
Let darkness take you, deep and deep
Take comfort in my arms embrace
And when the sun has kissed your face
Revive and view the green expanse
The birds do sing, let's dance a dance

Repose your mind, elder, sleep and sleep
Remember life, deep and deep
Take warmth in life, death soon will come
But not until the night is done
The tune you played was full and long
But all must end, as any song

Take rest take rest, sleep and sleep
Fall and fall, deep and deep
