Maybe a few more nights till things settle down."

From beneath Cooke’s blanket came his voice. "Hah, till hell freezes over They want our scalps pretty badly and the buggers won’t give up till they do."

Randall turned and said to the lump in the blanket. "Well, man, you shouldn’t have shot them two guards. That sure stuffed things up, didn’t it?"

Suddenly Cooke sat up, spilling the blanket onto the floor. "Stuffed things up? Either that one of us would be lying in a damned coffin by now!" He yelled at Randall, spittle landing inches from Randall’s face.

Sparks stood up. "Oy, Shut it, both of you’s. We’re staying here for the time being so get used to it. Randall, is there enough food for us?"

"I bloody hope so or we’re fucked," he gave Cooke a dirty look.

"We have to manage for the time being. Right we got that settled.

Next thing is we have to bury the money," he held up his hands. "Till the heat dies down. Cooke, the radio in the car, is it working?"

"Yep."

"I want you to man every hour and listen to the news. Find out what’s happening. Randall, you and I going to find a secure place to hide this."

"Actually, you won’t believe this but I have the ideal spot to hide this."

Cooke looked at Randall and said in a sneering way, "Where?"

"There’s an old cemetery not far from here. Haven’t been used since the 1950s. I remember when I was 11; me and a few mates one day went exploring there. Found some old tombs. Like I said, it’s not far from here."

Sparks stood up, smiling. "Good, let’s go. Cooke, you be alright by yourself here?"

Cooke smiled back. "Yeah. You have to show me the boneyard later, eh?"

"Okay then, see you in an hour or so."

The rain spat at Randall and Sparks as they both wandered through the knee high wet grass. Mist swirling around them like ghostly dancers then they came to a crumbled stone arch giving the place a gothic character appearance. Sparks followed Randall through the arch to where Randall was standing. Headstones, weatherworn and cracked, peeping from the overgrown plots forever forgotten and no longer cared for.

"Jesus this place creepy," muttered Sparks. "Come on, let’s find somewhere we can dump this then get the hell out of this place." They wandered past headstones, some with towering angels watching the two men as they stumbled through the graveyard. They found a withered strangler fig looming over some old graves.

Without a word, Sparks started digging in the soil till he made a decent size hole. He got the bag and dropped it into the hole and started filling it in. He looked at Randall. "Near the Fig tree."

Randall helped Sparks to pat it down before they went back to the homestead. As they wandered through past the headstones, Sparks suddenly had a strange, creepy feeling that washed over him. He slowly turned around and saw standing in the swirling mists the woman from the night before. She stood at the base of a grave, staring unceasing at them both. Sparks shivered and hurried to catch up with the departing Randall.

Cooke twirled the knob of the car radio but nothing but statics came screaming through. Cooke slammed the car door in frustration and crossed the courtyard when he heard faint music coming from inside the house.

Cooke stood there in the rain, straining his ears. It sounded like the piano.

He hurried up the steps and as soon he entered the house, everything went quiet.
