Ahial's Quest (7 ratings) by Chris Henderson
Page 2 of 10 "Dad," said Ahial, "I can’t go alone. I’ll be killed!" Ahial refused to
leave.
"Ahial," said Tebtatoo, "Leave, please! I beg of you to this for me and your
mom." He opened the door and saw no soldiers and turned back to Ahial, "Oheel
is
tied up below that hill. You have to run past the hill, but after that you’re
free to go!"
"Dad," said Ahial, "I’ll see ya I guess." He hugged Tebtatoo and ran to go
get Oheel. He was spotted and had to pray for his father’s safety, but he knew
this is what his father wanted.
Tebtatoo watched as soldiers fired arrows trying to hit Ahial and Oheel.
Luckily, nothing happened to Ahial and Ahial was free, but Tebtatoo was not so
lucky. As Ahial rode into the distance the soldiers came to Tebtatoo.
"So trying to send your son into Iohayt?" asked a soldier, "Heh, he’ll die
in
a later battle." The soldier drew a sword. "I am supposed to kill you with
this.
You wanna die? If not tell me everything about your son. Everything!" The
soldier put a sword to Tebtatoo’s neck. "Tell me!"
"Never," said Tebtatoo as he looked at the sword. "I am neva gonna let ya
kill mah son!" He then looked at the soldier and said to him, "Kill me
now!"
"What a waste," said the soldier, "Oh well, can’t let all of them be
winners." He then sliced off the head of Tebtatoo. "Heh, I’ll take this to King
Gaerv the 20th. He’ll be pleased with another head to preserve." The soldier
then walked outside of the house and shouted, "Let’s return home! I have news
for the king!" Then he hopped on his horse and waited for the rest to go with
him to Gaerv capital, Kraviks.
Ahial rode and rode to Kyre. He never looked back in fear that he would be
spotted. Soon he was deep in the Iohayt Kingdom and knew he would be able to
find an inn to stay at somewhere. He searched for a town and then remembered
the
map. He pulled it out of his pack and looked at it.
"Oheel," said Ahial, "We are gonna be able to find a place to spend the
night!" Ahial joyfully rode Oheel to the town to the east. The town was called
Frayu, also nicknamed the town of a thousand trees due to its forest
surroundings. Ahial and Oheel soon arrived at Frayu and were amazed by all the
people in the town.
"Wow," said Ahial, "I’ve never seen this many people. Shayas was such a
small
place compared to this." Ahial looked around for an inn when a boy interrupted
him around his age.
"Howdy," said the boy, "Are you knew here?" The boy looked at Ahial. "You
got
a nice horse. My dad owns a stable. Wanna keep him there over night or how long
you got to stay here?"
Ahial got off Oheel, "His name’s Oheel, it was my dad’s. I had to come here
because Gaerv soldiers were ravaging Shayas. My dad says he wants me to join
the
army and avenge my mom’s death."
"Well, guess what! We are taking in people at the Jester’s Joy Inn and
Tavern
who have been unfortunately harmed by Gaerv’s military." The boy then grabbed
Oheel by the rope around his neck and said, "Follow me, ummm... guy."
"Name’s Ahial," said Ahial, "What’s your name?" Ahial continued to walk to
where the boy was leading him. Next Page Copyright © 1999, 2000, 2001 Chris Henderson, sffworld.com. All rights reserved.
