Love of Inspiration (5 ratings) by Brandon Hill
Page 1 of 10 We preserve the fleeting existence of man, give immortality to mortals. By
our blessing, their existence is preserved in writing, in song, and in a world
forever changed by new landmarks of progress. Since the first breath of time,
it
has been our purpose to bring inspiration, to give those blessed with our
presence such enlightenment.
I am Sheil.
By my touch, the dead live on.
Mortals know me not by name, yet they know me nonetheless, for I am a muse:
a
celestial herald of inspiration, one of incalculable many. A sea of millions
from all walks of life, who have benefited from my inspiration, is held within
my vast memory.
We are perpetual servants for the Divine who neither sleep nor slumber. We
are ever at his disposal, for all of creation is not one universe, but an
endless ocean of realities: a "multiverse". We are celestial beings of the
supreme universe, the crux of creation, yet apart from the realities of the
mortal plane, apart from time.
There is also another universe, a lower universe, below the realm of
mortals,
where the adversary dwells with his minions in complete opposition to the will
of the Divine, waging war against his righteousness. The prize: the beloved
souls of mortals.
The inspiration we bestow upon these mortals is part of the struggle of all
celestial beings against the corruption of the lower universe. By our touch, we
help guide the path of mortals towards the light.

From a distant galaxy in the mortal realms, I was summoned to the Celestial
City, the heart of the supreme universe, by the Orator: the voice of the
Divine.
My assignment was a great joy to bear, for I was to perform the highest service
for a muse: to watch over a mortal, destined for greatness by the hand of the
Divine. He was to be blessed with my inspiration all his life, his talents to
be
guided to the pinnacle to which they were intended to aspire.
Earth, according to the records in the endless stores of the Celestial
City’s
library, was a very small world as compared to others to which I had been
assigned, and in a very physically restrictive universe. It was to be a very
short tour of duty, I discovered, only little more than a century at most -as
humans measured time-, and so aside from the expected entanglements with lower
universe minions, I expected few to no major problems.
I first glimpsed the Earth through the veil between the universes as the
guardians presented it to me: a brilliant world of blues, greens, browns, and
whites, but with not only the light from its sun to brighten and warm it, but
with the distinct light from the souls of mortals. I smiled at the sight of the
planet as the guardians pierced the veil and transitioned me there on the wings
of ether.
As each world provides new experience for me, I never leave the same. But I
knew not that the experience that awaited me on Earth would change me indeed
forever.

I knew that this child who was to be my charge was special.
He was newly born and fast asleep when I arrived. I stood by his mother,
smiling as she nursed him. When he awoke, he smiled back, reaching for me. Next Page Copyright © 1999, 2000, 2001 Brandon Hill, sffworld.com. All rights reserved.
