God or gods: The Choices of Men (2 ratings) by Christopher Holliday
Page 3 of 3 How did he do it? Why does he seem to be so happy even though he has so very
little? I’m about to tell you.
Part III
Lester’s Choice
So, how can a man like Lester Stevenson have so many wonderful things and
still be so very troubled. I told you before when we talked about Lester that
he was an atheist, he didn’t believe in any gods and didn’t have any gods.
Well, I’m going to cross the line for a minute and tell you that he does have a
god and even worse then that he has many gods.
You see, when Lester made the choice that he was not going to believe in any
one god or in his mind in any gods at all, he made an unconscious decision to
worship many gods. You see, anything that a person decides is more important
then the one true God (Jesus Christ) becomes a god to that person. Lester
decided that he had no god, by doing that he made everything that was important
to him a god; Money, Sex, Friends, and anything else that he cared about became
gods in the eyes of Lester. And why does this cause Lester to feel so empty
inside? Why did it make him so angry that he got abusive? Because when God made
man, he made man with a place inside that is set aside for him and him alone
and no man can make enough money or take enough drugs or have enough sex or
friends or anything else to fill that empty place. The only way that Lester can
fill that hole is to except Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and until he
does that, Lester is in for a very hard life.
Part IV
Harold’s Choice
How can a five-year-old child last alone on the streets without help from
anyone? Simple, he can’t. Harold was never alone; God was looking out for
Harold. He knew before Harold was ever born what he would go through, and he
knew what choices he would make. Harold made the right choice when he chose to
ask Jesus Christ to come into his heart and save him from his life of sin.
Harold made that choice at some point in his life, and that is why even though
Harold has no money, no fancy clothes or big houses; he has peace. Jesus Christ
gives him that peace and no matter how bad things get, he can always turn to
Christ and find it. No man can take it away and no demon can ever threaten it.
When Jesus Christ was on that cross over Two-thousand years ago he made a
quote. He said, "It is finished!" that simple quote covers so many things and
among them things you’ll find fear, sadness, doubt, and shame. If you ask him
into your heart as Harold did, no matter what you face in your life you can
turn to Christ and find peace.
I hope you have found some form of inspiration in this short story. The
characters I have written about are fictional, but the choices and the results
are very much real for you and for every other living soul. If you have any
questions about how you can find this peace please don’t hesitate to e-mail me
at FindSalvation@ShadowChild.com I will have someone contact you Asap.
