The Super-Power Of Mr. Wish (3 ratings) by Diemus Kaspratus
Page 2 of 2 "We don't believe you!" someone said anonymously from the back of the crowded
room. "Yeah, that's a load of crap" someone else said, "You just don't want us
to bombard your house with cakes of awful flavors and icings anymore!" and
everyone laughed and carried on like idiots. One man even stood up and threw a
half of a cupcake at him, and he really thought it was going to get ugly until
another man got everyone to quit yelling and throwing stuff long enough to make
a suggestion.
"If you want us to leave you alone, then YOU must wish on YOUR next birthday
to lose the power to make wishes come true. Then we will KNOW that you cannot
make people turn into cement anymore, or have their homes turn to plastic doll
houses and stuff." Everyone cheered with approval, and so it was agreed that
Mr. Wish would wish to be able to wish no longer.
On the day of his next birthday, again, almost the entire town attended his
birthday party, overflowing out the doors of the house and into the street,
just to hear him wish for his ability not to wish. He had thought about this
wish day and night for weeks now, and when he was presented with a huge cake,
complete with candles burning, everyone grew quiet with anticipation as he bent
to make what they thought would be his FINAL wish. "I wish for everyone in this
town to love me forever, and to tell my story to as many people as they can, so
they will love me too."
Raving applause could be heard for miles that day, after Mr. Wish blew out
the candles, and no one ever again questioned his wish granting super-power.
His story has been told the world over, and this is why I tell it now.
That Mr. Wish really is a great guy you know.
