Poems
- I Can Remember

I Can Remember
         by Jenna Klunk

I can remember when the phone rang
and it was my aunt on the other end.
As I heard in her voice she has been crying
then I knew it wasn't anything good.

Two days later, 5 AM rolled around we started our trip to Alabama
attending a funeral of our young cousin Mike.
It was 13 long hours
to see our family in such pain.

Walking into such an upset environment I shed a tear,
everyone crying was so very upsetting to me.
Whether he delivered their children, was a relative or a best friend
he was very well known in his community to have done something for someone.

As we heard thousands walked threw to see the family
we knew how much of a successful young man he really was.
Dying at such a young age of 42 with 3 beautiful young girls
I see the future being very hard and overwhelming for his three beautiful and talented young girls, and especially his wife.

I will never forget the setting of the atmosphere.
One sunny afternoon, the church overwhelmed with people.
When we walked up the center isle with the families I heard many whispers and cries.
Then I knew that my Bama families would never be the same.
