Poems
- Reflections

Reflections
         by Jeff Layton

Reflecting upon my childhood
Wondering when things went wrong
Thinking of old friends
Who have long since gone?

Remembering when we all were friends
But those days went by
Thinking friendship would not end
And why no one said goodbye

What happened to you?
Where have you gone?
And why haven't you bothered
To pick up the phone

Remembering summer nights
When we felt so alive
Looking up at the stars
How fast those days went by

We wanted to grow up
The time went too fast
Now when I look back
I wish childhood would last

If I could go back
And do it all again
The only thing I'd change
Is that we would still be friends

So many friends are gone
I won't forget the love they gave
Some are just not here
Too many are in their grave

Life must go on
I feel bad when we depart
They will always be with me
Deep down in my heart

I will always remember
Those that I love
And will always pray for them
To my God above
