The Hospital by John Lee
The blood escaped from his chest,
And as if to a magnet,
The blood sprayed her palms,
Drawn dangerously away from him.
Loud cries of pain,
Extracted out of his throat,
Echoing around the white room,
Returning to his ears.
Repressed shudders of discomfort,
She hides her empathy,
Digging her hands into the wound,
Finding the bullet to be removed.
Red and black dance romantically,
Red enveloping her body,
Black replacing his senses,
Seducing them both away from reality.
His breathing slows,
Her heart beat quickens,
Devastation and ectasy collide,
The soldier caught in eternity and the nurse caught in a moment.
