It was a signal for 8Ball to get off the floor and get ready for the day. He rose, using the edge of the basin to support his weight. The monitor kept an incessant beeping tone: Even and monotonous. 8Ball’s movements were slow this morning. Crash traveling had a way of doing that to him. Crash traveling was the type of dimensional sliding that the City Council used when making diplomatic conference appointments with delegates from neighboring dimensions: this trading route was established during the first colonization of Thrae-Dos. Its use is restricted to only the Council, and carries a ten year sentence in one of the Penal Colonies that were in this part of the galaxy: One was in the center of the Ganymede planetoid, circling The Solus ‘Center of this galaxy’. The other, is the only of its kind to exist: the Black hole Penal colony. The only planet to ever survive the creation of a black hole. Teleportation and magic enable the circling moon "Corinth" to ship things to and from the colony. Nothing other than supplies can get in or out. Several eons ago, the Magytech Company created the system for the Mencolian Coalition. But after a few hostile takeovers, and an inter-company war, the ability to recreate the tech for the transport was lost. The only thing known about the system is how to operate it, and even that cannot be copied. Magytech was a very good company. Too good some say.

8Ball used Crash traveling when a mark made a run for another plane to escape the contract on him/her/it. It took a lot out of the user, if not legally obtained. Legal Crash Units have a built-in limiter, only allowing for it to use the dimensional energy to power it, instead of the user’s personal Magimance- Maj-eh-mans-ee ( a user’s own magic energy stores) to supply activation and sustain rift integrity. Illegal Crash Units will feed off the user’s Magimance, draining them. Sometimes, depending on the power level of the user, the drain may result in discorporation. The user would loose all solid matter, becoming a dimensional image, a wraith. Trapped in null space, unable to touch the solid world.

8Ball was a high level Magimancer, though he never knew why.

8Ball turned on the Jower head ( jet powered shower) and proceeded to wash the remnants of last night’s contract, off of his ghostly white colored body. The steaming hot water felt good to 8Ball. It gave him memory flashes of when his blood ran warm through his body. When the muscles underneath his skin, felt alive and supple. Instead of cold, and soft. He let the water run through his onyx colored hair. This was the only time 8Ball could get lost into someplace other than his own thoughts, someplace other than his own skin. The monitor phone kept beeping.

8Ball pulled a Kuala fur towel off of the nearby hook, drying himself off. He liked the feel of Kuala fur against his skin. He rapped himself around his waist, slipped into his leopard skin slippers, and proceeded to shave off the five o’ clock shadow that had developed since yesterday. One of the side effects of Crash travel. Excessive hair growth has been known to occur. He splashed hair removal gel onto his thin chin, and waited for the liquid to harden. It had been an hour ( City of Oryon Time) and the monitor phone still rang loudly. 8Ball stared into the mirror, checking his eyes for blood shot veins.
