They landed gently, with only a few sustained minor bumps when the power was cut and the shuttle came to a final rest. All in all it was a much better landing than Laura had expected.

There was a miniature replicator at the back of the shuttle and they used it to create the materials they thought they would need; mainly some food and water and small packs to carry them, for Scott a gel for his beard-growth, and weapons in case of any surprises along the way. Laura knew the codes which allowed them to replicate laser pistols and rifles, having taken them from minds inside the network. She was slightly surprised that Scott knew how to use a rifle. She didn't question him, understanding how difficult it would have been living on the streets for a time after escaping the orphanage if he hadn't known how to protect himself. Willow could use a pistol and she took one - the enhancement allowed her to do a number of things, including holding and using a weapon. Laura herself took none. She always tried to carry a staff-weapon in a holster at her side, a kind of compacted metal spear. She didn't like laser weapons, they were too clumsy and random, she wanted something more precise that she controlled. When they had everything they needed they headed outside, securing the shuttle.

It was daytime locally and Minarth's two suns were high above them, ostensibly bright glowing beacons of light. They used them to gain a sense of direction and headed for the spaceport, moving across the soil of another world.
