Hello everyone I am only 14 years old so bare with me..before you read my poem I must tell you a couple of bits of information or you will not understand this poem..I've been through a lot for only being 14 this poem is basically directed to my father, its about my mother..she was in and out of prison my whole life..my father didn't like her too much, my mother died on July 25th of this year..she died of a drug overdose..you just needed to know that in order to understand my poem..well here it is..its slightly long

You might not have cared when my mother died..and
some of the things I've said..well I guess I lied
because I was always so mad but I relized why..She
wasn't always around because she didn't want me
to see her pop any pills or even carry an empty
bottle she knew she wasn't that great of a role
model, yeah she was the total opposite of you but
its not her fault its the only life she knew, she
did understand that the things she did weren't
exactly right, but I know she had to think of me
on one of those cold nights, but she knew I was
with you that's why she knew I was okay, she knew
if I was with her I'd be addicted and depending
on drugs everyday, and this year in school I will
be trying a lot harder, I have many reasons
why..my mom for starters, she had to care because
I remember this one day on the phone she made me
promise that I wouldn't fall victim to drugs, and
I would do good in life one thing I can say is she
never gave me bad advice so you don't have to
like my colored hair,piercings, or the black
bracelettes I wear on my hands, just know that
I'm a kid expressing myself in a good way..just
try to understand
