Hot Time in the Heights - Hansen Boys Mystery (Part 2)
It was 6:30am, Tuesday morning and Jeff, Paul, and Brad were getting up and
ready for the day's activities and a meeting with Roger Healy and his Telephone
Company line crew which consisted of Jack Bailey, Bill Peters, and Mark Hansen,
Brad's older brother. While the boys were getting showered, dressed and ready
for breakfast, A friend of theirs, Dave Harmon, 19, was walking over the bridge
on Libby Road from the east, carrying a tape player, playing the jazz music of
the Vince Guaraldi Trio, when he walked past an open manhole at which a 'ghost
crew was present, with a Midnite Express drone van parked nearby, the safety
railing set up and the ventilator machine with hose arcing down into the
manhole.
He called out to what he thought was a line crew at work, not knowing the
true nature, for the ' line crew was three pair of light brown cotton twill
pants in a crouching position, each being worn by a pair of rubber ball like
aliens. All had black belts and the twin antennae were fully extended, and the
sight flabberghasted Dave Harmon, who was wearing a light blue sport shirt and
pair of khakis similar to what the alien balls on the ghost crew were wearing.
Unbenownst to Dave, there was a single "chaser" ball sitting by the
ventilator machine and as the jazz blared out of his tape player, the chaser
ball began to bounce wildly and soon came after him, bouncing off the seat of
his pants as he ran toward Brad's house. The chaser ball returned to the open
manhole and the ghost crew it was accompanying. While he approached the house,
the ghost crew was about to have an addition to it, for a duplicate of Dave's
khakis emerged from the drone van worn by a pair of the alien balls and climbed
down into the manhole, with twin antennae clearly visible.
As Dave Harmon entered the house, Paul, Jeff and Brad, said, "Good morning,
Dave, how is everything this morning?" Dave replied," I am not sure, the
wierdest thing happened to me as I was passing an open manhole on this end of
the bridge over the NS tracks. I called out to what I thought was a line crew
and got no answer. I saw three pairs of light brown pants similar to what I am
wearing now crouched down around the manhole with stick like things sticking
straight up and a single ball, dark green in color, came after me after
evidently hearing my jazz tape. What is going on here?" Paul said," what you
saw and encountered is called a ghost crew and the pants you saw crouching down
were being worn by pairs of rubber ball like aliens that apparantly have minds
of their own." Jeff and I encountered these in Buffalo and Rochester, and from
what you just told me, the single balls seem to be a lot more aggressive than
what we encountered in either Buffalo or Rochester. Our phone company contact,
Roger Healy, told us by phone that he and his crew have been encountering quite
a few of these 'crews' particularly late at night and in the wee hours of the
morning."
