Born Again Christian (21 ratings) by Ashley Parker
Page 4 of 4 "A-HAH!" yelled the demon "I’ve got it!"
The creature yelled so loud it broke me concentration but then he
started coming up with a solution to what he called his problem. He wouldn’t
let me stay with him because I was mortal, and for some strange reason I wasn’t
allowed through the Gates of St. Peter, whatever they were.
"I can give you two options human. The choice is yours. But,
believe me when I say this, it has to be your choice entirely. I can’t force
you to choose."
"Well, go on then, get on with it" says I impatiently.
"What are my choices?"
"It’s simple. Either we try and keep you here and hope nobody
notices a human on the team, or else we send you back to earth and let you live
your life over again."
"What do you mean my life over again? Do you mean I’ll be the same
person all over again?"
"No, not exactly" said the demon cautiously. "We can’t
send you back to live your own life all over again. That wouldn’t be allowed.
But, you can be reborn and live your life as someone else, which is the next
best thing. The trouble is, if we let you stay here with us and the BOSS finds
out, well he is bound to send you straight to Hell. Not a soft option, I can
tell you."
Well, what do you think I was going to do. I’d already had a good look
around the place and believe me I didn’t want my chestnuts roasting over
an open fire. I knew what my choice was going to be.
"Send me back" says I without a second thought.
"Are you sure that’s what you really want?"
"Yes, quite sure thank you. Kind of you to offer but let me go
back."
And the last thing I remember about that place was the wicked grin on
the demon’s face and the insane laughter of his mate as I found myself falling
through space again...
Well, it was weird I can tell you. I mean the sensations I was feeling.
No sound again but the wind rushing past my ears, or at least I thought it was
wind, as I felt myself falling and falling down this long dark tunnel. It was
incredible. Suddenly, after what seemed like a lifetime the tunnel started to
get narrower and darker. It seemed to be filling with liquid. I could feel
myself changing, getting smaller, my vision getting blurred. What was happening
to me. I had no idea!
The tunnel became smaller and smaller and I felt myself being squeezed
through a narrow tight opening. It seemed to last for hours and hours and I
couldn’t stop wondering if I had made the right choice. Was it the right
decision to be born again.
Well, finally I could see light at the end of the tunnel and that was a
relieve I can tell you. I felt that I was drowning and couldn’t wait to gulp in
cold fresh air! It was great!!
Suddenly there was a terrific slap on my backside and it was such
a shocked I yelled! Only - it wasn’t me yelling - it was a baby crying.
What’s going on? Where am I? What am I doing here? Oh no! I’m
black!!

"What a fine voice your son has my husband" said the young
woman as she bathed the baby in the waters of the Nile. "It’s cries can
already by heard as far as the village." she said, smiling lovingly down
at her new born infant.
"Yes, my wife. He will be an asset to the whole tribe. By
the will of Allah."
"By the will of Allah...."
