empty endulgence (6 ratings) by Lex Parker
Daughter to the king,
Heir to worlds, ruler of masses,
The picture of both physical and mental perfection,
Trained by the best of the best of the best,
Washed in wealth,
And shrouded in protection.
Magic to the fifth degree,
Her porcelain face gleams against the rich red cloths of the palace,
Her delicate composure lusted by every prince in the kingdom,
And beyond.
A life to be envied by the masses.
The old, the desolate, the homeless, the norm
Striving to survive in a world of magic, theft, greed and deprivation,
A battle to survive,
Against enemies
Against nature
Against themselves
Yet alone she cries,
Tears of loneliness as deep as the moon,
As wide as the kingdom
As solid as her heart.
Her feet stable on the edge of the window ledge,
Two hundred feet high.
The tears take eons to reach the ground
And land in silence.
Standing on the edge of her life
On the edge of sanity.
She takes the step towards freedom.
A girl with everything her heart desires
And no one to share it with
