Page 17 of 29 Do not you see? Gonz is always pushing us around. Telling us what to do.
Constant orders. Is that the life you wanted? You signed up for power. Now you
know you will get nothing from this man at all. he doesn’t need us with that
new guy. We need to join Getrau’ and the Militan. It is the only way of
peace."
The men were doubtful. "We cannot leave Gonz. He will kill us all! He is
just too powerful." Fred scowled at the man. "We are Gonz’s power! Without us
he is no more than you or me. Together we can destroy him and restore peace to
Deckbin!" The soldiers howled. Fred had won them over. What was once a dream
was happening. Together he soldiers packed their bags and left for the
smoldered gate. When they got there they all were shocked in terror. There
leaning against a pole was Gonz. He looked up to Fred, the leader. ‘That was a
nice speech back there Fred. I was sure I had made a wise decision putting you
in charge. But now, I fear I regret the decision. A rebellion? We will see who
will falter. Okay then. You are my power. Come and defeat me. You said it
yourself Fred. " Fred eyed Gonz angrily. He lunged to Gonz screaming, but was
cut short as Gonz took hold of his neck. Fred’s eyes bulged as he gasped for
breath. ‘Where are your friends now Fred?" Gonz tightened his grip. Fred let
out a final gasp of breath before collapsing to the ground lifeless. He was
dead.
Xavon hid behind some bushes. He looked up to the high castle. He walked
inside and searched his surroundings. He knew this was Yoct, but did not know
if danger lurked inside. He could not have been sure. He looked around
frantically sword in hand. He would take down Gonz now.
There were no guards in sight. Gonz was defenseless. Xavon searched every
room quickly, each one filling up with more suspense as he looked. When he came
to the bedchamber he knew that Gonz was in here. He took a deep breath and ran
into the bedchamber slashing away at the canopy bed. When he was finished his
whacking he noticed he had destroyed nothing but the king’s bed. He looked over
his shoulder and saw the secret hallway. It all came back to him now. The
hallway in his dream. It was the same as here! He slowly walked down the
hallway nervously. He got to the end and saw the closed door. He used his sword
and pierced a small hole through it. He rammed the door with all of his
strength and it flung open. Not even Verd’s small charm could stop the master
swordsman. In the room he saw the open hole in the ground. He walked down
noticing a small journal on the ground next to it. He picked it up and placed
it into the sack he kept at his side. he emptied himself into the small passage
and climbed down he stairs. They were very old and creaked with every step. He
stepped on one and it collapsed beneath him. He hung teetering over a pool of
black water. He looked down and knew he could not fall. He knew the secret
behind the water. He pulled himself up and continued descending the stairs with
more care. When he reached the bottom he looked all around him at the dark
room. He began to walk towards the domed building, which was surprisingly
covered in ivy. Next Page Copyright © 1999, 2000, 2001 Josh Pereira, sffworld.com. All rights reserved. No part of this may be reproduced or reprinted without permission in writing from the author.
