The Black Fountain (1 rating) by Josh Pereira
Page 18 of 29 He entered the building and heard water rushing. Below him he saw more of
this black water. None touched him because of his tight leather boots. He
walked into the center of the dome, careful not to walk into deeper puddles of
the water. When he reached the center he looked at the large fountain. Xavon
whispered to himself. "The Black Fountain...’ He peered deep into the
fountain’s recesses. Xavon had known about the Black Fountain since he trained
with Master Cove. He started to see the shape of a body forming. Out of nowhere
Goater popped out of the water. Xavon drew his sword as he saw the evil figure.
It was Goater, but his eyes were pure red. Xavon readied to strike the figure.
He slashed Goater straight through his chest. Goater fell in two pieces into
the fountain. Xavon looked down at the fallen soldier. Out of from the murky
waters Goater shot out high in the air. He landed on Xavon and began to slash
away at him. Xavon cut him off of him and he fell into a puddle. He was quickly
revived. He got back up and took out his staff. Xavon readied his sword and
buckler. Goater charged and Xavon stood his ground. He knew he could not kill
the beast. He struck his sword on Goater’s staff. Goater’s skills were
enhanced. He struck with awesome power and force. Xavon had to constantly
defend not getting a chance to escape. Goater struck downward, and Xavon
quickly blocked it. He tried to counter it but Goater caught him. Goater used
the spikes on the end of his qauterstaff to stab Xavon, but he used his buckler
to block. Xavon turned with his sword cutting Goater’s arm off. Goater fell to
the ground and began to drink the black water. This was Xavon’s only chance. He
turned and ran towards the ascending staircase. He ran up quickly jumping over
the missing step. Goater swiftly followed. Goater did not know about the
missing step. He fell into the hole and dangled in the air. Xavon climbed above
the latch. He watched down at Goater as he dangled above the pool of water.
Goater lost his grip and fell into the water. Xavon watched as he fell. He
turned his back to the latch. Out of nowhere Goater popped out and attacked
Xavon they rolled around on the ground struggling until for some odd reason
Goater stopped. Xavon broke free and drew his dagger from his side. "Please
stop!" Goater hid in the corner of the room. His eyes were back to normal.
"Please don’t hurt me! I am on your side." Goater cowered in his corner. Xavon
saw the change. He knew now he was back to normal. What he didn’t know was why
he had changed back. He shrugged off the thought. "Do you remember anything?"
Goater rubbed his head. "Yes...I remember a dark figure attacking me. He almost
killed me! Then I remember actually dying next to the fountain and falling in.
I fell asleep after that. I am just waking up..."
Xavon knew he mustn’t remember any of his evil change. "Well what is your
name then?"
"Goater. I am not for Gonz anymore! I am with you know." Xavon went up close
to Goater. "You are one of Gonz’s soldiers?" Goater nodded. "Xavon threw him
against the wall. "Do you know how many people were killed from your ruler’s
hands? I should leave you here to die. But what can you tell me of Gonz’s
army?" Goater saw the journal with Xavon. He knew Xavon did not trust him. Next Page Copyright © 1999, 2000, 2001 Josh Pereira, sffworld.com. All rights reserved.
