The army showed Tanzarian and his men about a path that did not lead through the swamps. After running for a time they emerged to Serta Forest. Behind them the vine beasts no longer followed, as they never leave from the swamp and jungle. The group there began to rest in the forest. Friculon joined the brothers and the Quad Squad and told them of what happened. "You see while you left for the Red-Rock Squad we continued to Cove. We were able to reach thanks to a shortcut I know. There we told them of everything and they sensed you were in danger. So we gathered their warriors and left to save you. We came from the north again getting record time. It helped also that an old hag had a spell that increased our speed. It was great. And here we are now. The problem is where do we go from here?" Tanzarian had only one choice. "We must attack Yoct now. We are strongest with Cove."

Verd’s mount stopped short of Getrau’. There inside he saw Gonz. He gathered his armor and sword. He snuck up to a hole in the wall and peered through it. He heard a lot of feet moving but only saw Gonz. Verd readied himself and ran to Gonz. Verd screamed as he rushed Gonz. Gonz just stood there snickering. When Verd approached, he swung his sword at Gonz. Gonz quickly pulled a rapier out from his side and parried Verd’s blow sending him tumbling over backwards. Verd noticed a great increase in Gonz’s strength. Verd fired a ball of fire towards Gonz. Gonz dodged out of the way of the speeding inferno. He rolled on the ground and pounced up to Verd. Verd tried to block but was not fast enough. Gonz slashed Verd’s arm and sent him plummeting to the ground. He dropped his sword and began to punch Verd on the ground. Gonz did not notice as Verd was able to pull his hand onto Gonz’s back. He felt the magic surge through him as Gonz flew back. Gonz lay without moving before he stood again. Verd stood standing, trying to catch his breath. He soon realized it had been a while since he had quite the workout. When Gonz finally got to his feet Verd was ready to finish him off. And he could have but Verd decided to kill him slow. He planned on watching him suffer. In truth he never liked Gonz our his family of tyrants at all. He only used Gonz for a short time to use the Black Fountain. But now that he was revived and had the power to control all of the beasts in Deckbin, he needed his puppet no more. Gonz stood bleeding and very tired across from Verd. He knew he could not beat Verd. All hope seemed lost for him. As Verd approached he suddenly heard footsteps. He recognized them from before. He looked all around yet saw no one. "Gonz! Where are your men!" Gonz snickered. Soon he broke into a great and evil laugh. "You fool Verd! You have fallen right into my trap. For you see you may be stronger than me, but you are not as strong as two hundred men!" Gonz continued laughing. Verd surveyed his surroundings madly yet saw no sign of soldiers. "You’re bluffing Gonz. There is no one here except you and me!" Gonz just laughed away. Verd began to grow angry of Gonz’s games. "Listen you fools!" He shouted loudly. "Show yourselves now!" Gonz stopped laughing and raised his hand.
