"Now!" he shouted. Verd stared in fear as hundreds of men circled him. He turned around looking at all of the men. They were all armed to the teeth. Verd knew he was in trouble now. "Listen Verd. It’s over. Your reign of terror will never last. There will be only one ruler of Deckbin and that will no doubt be me." The guards advanced on Verd. "No!" he shouted. "I will not fall at the hands of a mere human!" He turned toward the destroyed gate where he planned to leave. The guards stopped him short. "What are you doing? Let me pass!" The guard pushed him back and he landed with a thud. He got up rubbing his back. He was now the one starting laugh. "What are you laughing at Verd?" asked Gonz. "You will be the one to perish! Not even all of your men match my magic."

He quickly threw a ball of dark light at Gonz hitting him on the knees sending him to the ground. He raised his hands, as Lock did, and began to perform the same bomb spell Lock had used. Only Verd’s grew faster and was much bigger. The soldiers began to fall back, some of them running for their lives. A few brave men rushed at him with their staffs and spears but were pushed back by a barrier growing around Verd. It was a terrible sight. As the dark bomb floated above their heads the skies grew dark. The wind howled furiously and the trees rustled. All of the creatures in Serta Forest felt the power as they too had began running. Gonz had to watch in horror as the bomb grew. But he would not admit defeat that easily. He managed to crawl to his staff he had dropped when hit by the surprising blast. Verd readied to hurl his bomb. "I hope you are ready to die!" Gonz acted quick. With all of his might he threw the spear at Verd’s hand. It hit it’s mark perfectly, lodging in Verd’s wrist. This drained Verd’s power and the bomb faded. Verd dropped to the ground trying to unlodge the spear. It was to deep and Gonz knew it. Gonz somehow found the strength to stand and stumble over to Verd. He knew this was his only chance. "Let me get that spear out for you Verd..." Gonz unsheathed a dagger and cut off Verd’s hand. He screamed in pain as he rolled around the ground clutching his wrist. Gonz kicked him in the chest. "Who is superior now Verd?" He kicked him again. He did not want to even look at him anymore. He pulled the dagger up to his chest. "Any last words Verd?" Verd’s eyes were wide with terror.

Verd managed to speak his last words. "It’s...not...over..." Gonz stabbed Verd and he fell to the ground lifeless. Gonz had won. "You two soldiers. Come here." They reported to Gonz. "Yes, sir?" "I’d like you to cast the body in the desert. When you return we will be already gone. Do not look for us. Just stay at Yoct. You got me?" The soldiers nodded. They grabbed Verd’s body and carried off toward the desert.

Gonz gathered his men. "Listen up you sorry lot! We are now the only ones who can take over. You all see what happened to your friend Fred, eh? He was a fool. You can now only win with me. We march now to Yoct. I know that Getrau’ will surely find us there.
